Cricut Potpourri Basket Cartridge available!

Ever since this past summer when I did some work for Provo Craft and mentioned I used a cartridge called “Potpourri Basket” I have steadily gotten emails asking more about it and several offers to buy it.

As I have been cleaning up and clearing out some unused stuff in my scrap room the last couple of days I started thinking about that cartridge.  I haven’t used it since I finished my last assignment.  I have seen enough chatter on scrap boards and gotten enough emails to know that someone out there would probably like to have it and would use it.  Sooooo. . . I have decided to sell it.  If you are interested, it is on eBay here: Cricut Potpourri Basket Cartridge.  Putting it on eBay seemed like the only fair way to make it available since I have gotten so many inquiries.

Please understand though and carefully read the item description, my cartridge was a prototype.  It has all of the images and features as the one available now (sold only with the Expression machine on the infomercial and online) but does not come with a box, a booklet, or a keypad.

So if you are interested, please take a peek at the auction.  I am looking forward to sending this off to someone who will use and enjoy it.

Another embroidery piece to share-

I have a new embroidery piece to share.  This item is a Bridal Bag.  The bag is made from white bridal satin and is trimmed with vintage lace and is lined.  The motif is a floral heart embellished with ribbon embroidery and petite seed beads.

I got these in the mail a few days ago and just love them!  I had them custom made use on my embroidery pieces.  In case you need something similar, I ordered them from Name Maker. The prices were very reasonable and they shipped fairly fast considering they are custom made.

St. Louis Handmade: Living the creative life under the Arch!

I mentioned in my last post that I had another project that I had been working on. . . I have been so busy with it and some assorted life things that I kind of neglected sharing about it here.

I recently started a new website, St. Louis Handmade, with a little help with some very creative friends.  I had been spending some time on Etsy looking at all of the amazing things and kept noticing so many people who lived in the same area as me.  I thought it would be really great to create a place for people who live in this area to have a spot to come to learn about other artist ans crafters, see what they are creating, find places to buy handmade, and basically celebrate everything about handmade!  Of course you don’t have to be from the St. Louis area to stop by and visit and soak in the total eye candy, everyone is welcome!  If you are in the St. Louis area though and love arts and crafts and love handmade, then I hope you will find the site to be a great resource to you!

Fairy Davis Fancy Goods: Caroline Bonnet

You may already know, I own a little site called Fairy Davis and Friends which sells vintage images and graphics by download for use in crafty projects. I started it as a way to share my crazy huge vintage paper goods collection with those who love those sorts of things like me. (The name, in case you are wondering, was the name of a young girl from the early 1900’s whose scrapbooks I found in a flea market many years ago.)

Recently I decided to get back into a long neglected hobby that I have really loved for a very long time, silk ribbon embroidery. After sharing a few examples I began getting some requests to sell my ribbon work. I decided to create a site dedicated to my ribbon work samples to make it easy for anyone wanting to see samples for custom orders. To make it easy on me, I added that new site as a second part of Fairy Davis. I call the new shop “Fancy Goods” which was a term used often in the old days to refer to the “pretty stuff” available in the general mercantile. In addition to the showcase at Fairy Davis Fancy Goods, I have also opened up and Etsy shop (FairyDavis.Etsy.com) (see the side bar also) to make it easy for anyone wanting to find my ribbon work. For the most part, my ribbon pieces are all by custom order online, with the exception of a few pieces I will be selling in my sister-in-law’s new shop Candid Gifts in downtown Belleville, IL.

And with all of the changes and additions under the Fairy Davis name, in case you are wondering, yes, the vintage image shop is still there. From the site’s home page you will see links to both shops, with the vintage image portion being under “Paper Goods“.

So speaking of Fancy Goods, I have a new piece to share . . .

This is my “Caroline” bonnet. All of my ribbon work pieces always incorporate something vintage, either the fabric, trims, or the whole item itself. This piece combines new cotton batiste with vintage handmade lace. The embroidery is silk ribbon which is accented with the teeniest seed beads there are. You have to look very closely to spot them.

My surgery-cation reading list-

I picked up these mags the other day for my surgery-cation reading.  They are  total eye candy.  Just flipping through them makes me feel inspired.

If I were a rich woman, I would subscribe to every magazine Stampington puts out because they are just so divine!  I totally get lost in every one of them.

Four glorious weeks!

Four glorious weeks off of work!  I am so excited!  So I had to have surgery to get it, but still, four whole weeks off of work.  I have huge crafty plans so if you have been checking in here wanting to see something pretty, I promise to have something to post very soon!  I have been so busy the last few weeks trying to get a few things taken care of before being off of work, that I haven’t gotten to send much time being creative.  That is about to change though because that is all I plan to do the next four weeks. . . total and complete craftiness!  So stay tuned, I hope to have something to share very soon!

I am so flattered that the super amazing Vicki Chrisman gave me this award on her blog. I am so flattered by the sweet things she said about me. She is the sweetest gal ever and so crazy talented.

Now for the fun part, I get to share links to some amazing girls who inspire me and leave me in complete awe. . . I have so many favorites it is hard to narrow it down to a handful to share.

Katie Watson: Not only does she have crazy mad shabby crafty skills, she is just the sweetest girl ever. I swear I think we are long lost sisters who love so many of the same things. Ohh, and she looks just like a younger version of my very favorite aunt.

Nicole Harper: Have you ever looked at someone’s art and gotten chills? I did once when I held and looked through a mini book of Nicole’s. I love the heartfelt way she journals and so wish that I could share a piece of myself in my pages the way she does.

Wendy Vecci: When I grow up I want to be as amazing as Wendy. She is so knowledgable in techniques and shares what she knows on her blog. Her blog is the next best thing to attending Ranger U. She makes me want to learn to stamp!

Joanna Rowan Mulane: Wow. What Joanna creates with vintage photos is stunning. She brings to life the sweet little ones in the photos she uses and gives them life as the sweetest little winged creatures.

Julie Balzer: What I really love about Julie is that she does her own thing, she isn’t the trend follower. She is an amazing scrapper who incorporates all types of media into her pages, an incredible art quilter, and a great digi designer and scrapper. I love how she blurs the line between what is one craft into another. For those who don’t see scrapping as “art”, you need to see what Julie creates with a page.

Catherine Matthews-Scanlon: Catherine is such an inspiration to me! She can sew on paper like you wouldn’t believe and makes the coolest atcs and cards with vintage images. Her pages are works of art and packed with cool techniques. Oh, and did I mention, she is just the nicest person you could ever meet.

Linda Albrecht: Gosh, I just absolutely adore Linda, not only as an artist but as a person. She is so kind and genuine. An email from her is always such a sweet surprise and always filled with the kindest words. A visit to her blog is pure eye candy and feels like a cozy visit home.

Sorry, long time no post. . .

I know it has been a while since I posted.  Life has just been so packed full of stuff and crazy busy.  I have been sneaking in a bit of creative time, but spread out among several projects.  I should finish at least one to share. . .

I do want to share a little something else.  Yesterday, I got together with my fabulous super talented friend Holly and had her take a few photos of me.  I am not too keen on having my picture taken, I pretty much hate it, but I had to have a new head shot for my Big Picture class (yes, I am *still* working on it, seriously, could I be any slower?).  Holly can make anyone look good, even me, so I tried to put aside my super self-consciousness and asked her to take my picture.  I thought I would share one here-
